I'm listening to the CNN news about the latest mass shooting which killed 17 people at a high school right here in Florida. The commentator is outraged over the fact that a depressed 19 year old man had every right to own a semi-automatic weapon which he used to murder 17 students at a high school. Yup, lots of outrage...again and again and again.
The story about this depressed young man will explain a bit the gun philosophy held by the majority of the American citizens. He had recently lost his mother and was being treated for depression. He had been expelled from the high school he shot up. A family acquainted with him kindly took him in to live in their home. They saw nothing wrong with a depressed 19 year old man moving into their home with a semi-automatic rifle! Their lawyer was quick to explain that the rifle was kept in a locked case...the 19 year old had the key to the case.
There is no logic here. It is all insanity. It will happen again and again and again because the majority of Americans treasure their "right to bear arms" over the lives of their children. Remember the little children at the shooting in Sandy Hook?
